Speaking of the weekend, I've had some free time to get to some things I've been meaning to do for awhile, one of which has turned into a new free brush set. I was trying to get a "handle" (pun intended;p) on some curve lines that were giving me trouble so I traced some antique door hinges (lots of interesting curves) for practice. This brush set was made from an old notebook we found while doing renovations to our farm house. The date on the book is 1894 and in it are sketches by a young woman (it's a highschool drawing course according to the cover). This free brush set includes 5 brushes, all of them of fruit; however, my favorite in the book is one of her "lady's slipper". One day I'll make that one into a brush too! These are the brushes I used to make my most recent patterned paper template (you'll find it here). One thing I wanted to say about this brush pack is that after transferring the drawings from Illustrator to Photoshop (and after I saved and zipped them up too!) I noticed that a few of my lines didn't quite join up, so you might run into a minor snag or two when you go to color them. Still-- it can be done! Anyway, hope you can put them to good use.
